Welcome to the course The Basics of Food and Nutrition! I am very excited that you are thinking about taking this course! Hopefully, together, we can make sure that you learn the things you hope to learn.
There are many reasons for wanting to take the course. Maybe you are just curious about food and nutrition or possibly, you would like to have more tools to make well-informed decisions on what you are eating.
No matter what your motivation is, it is always a thing to be more informed on the things that you regularly do and that have an impact on your health and well-being.
What do you need to know? (prerequisites)
This course, the basics of food and nutrition, is precisely what it sounds like. You will learn about the basics of food and nutrition from a scientific point of view but in a way that is applicable to your everyday life. This means that you do not need a chemistry or biology background. During this course, we will touch upon several subjects that will be familiar to people who have a background in science (high school level), but if you do not have this, no worries! You can still follow along, and you can choose how deep you want to delve into the scientific subjects.
Who is my teacher?
I imagine that you would like to know who is coming on this adventure with you! My name is Anna, and I have a food science and technology background. I have worked in the food industry for about a decade, and while doing so, I specialized in Nutrition. I am a registered Nutritionist in the United Kingdom (registered with the Association for Nutrition). If you want to find out more about me, you can visit my LinkedIn page or go to the ”about me” page.
What will I learn?
This course consists of X lessons. In each lesson, you will find a lot of information, videos, practice exercises and homework assignments. If you opted for the certificate option, you will find that at the end of each chapter.
I hope you enjoy the course as much as I enjoyed making it and teaching it. If you have any questions, you can post them on the forum or search to see if any of the other students has had the same issue. You never know!
Enjoy and I am excited to see how you progress on your journey!
